Basic Warranty on Computer Systems

Sanford's ComputerWorks Custom Built Systems: Sanford’s ComputerWorks warrants custom desktop, notebook and server systems to be free from defects in material and/or workmanship for a period of three (3) years from the date of original purchase for parts and a period one (1) year for labor.

If you purchase a new computer from Sanford's ComputerWorks, it is automatically covered by the basic warranty. The basic warranty covers parts replacement and reinstallation of Windows if the operating system needs to be reloaded due to problems caused by hardware failure that has not resulted from outside causes.

Extended Warranty

The extended warranty covers exactly the same things that the basic warranty covers, but extends the LABOR part of the warranty by two years, for a  total of 3 years of labor coverage on a system purchased.

If you have purchased an extended warranty on a system purchased from SCW, and would like to trade in the system against a new system, we will prorate the remainder of the warranty and apply it to the new system when you purchase an extended warranty for the new system. For example, if you've had a system for two years, that leaves you with one year of extended warranty to transfer. Therefore you would only pay for half of the new extended warranty to be applied to the new system.

Technical Service

For technical service performed by Sanford’s ComputerWorks, there will be 90 days warranty for labor.

All Other Parts

All other products carried and sold by Sanford’s ComputerWorks, unless otherwise stated, are subject to a one (1) year warranty. No refunds are allowed for clearance items. Monitors and CPU’s carried and sold by Sanford’s ComputerWorks are subjected to manufacturer’s warranty only.

Exclusions
What the warranty does NOT cover

  1. No warranty work is done onsite. All warranty work needs to be done at Sanford's ComputerWorks' repair center. If work needs to be done onsite, normal labor rates will apply, however, warrantable parts will still be covered.

  2. Issues normally covered by an insurance policy - water damage, fire, storm, electrical spikes, etc.

  3. Issues caused by neglect - fans unable to run because of dirt issues etc. You can bring in a system purchased at SCW anytime during the warranty period for a free physical cleaning.

  4. Labor involved in reintegrating a system in its working environment. The labor coverage only covers hardware replacement and operating system reloads when OS problems were caused by hardware failure.

  5. Labor involved in reinstalling customer software.

  6. Improper packing for items shipped back to us.

  7. Viruses, Trojan Horses, Hijacks, and other malware.

  8. Smoke damage from fire or tobacco smoke.

  9. Operating System (OS) deletion or corruption by user's attempt to reinstall the OS.

  10. Damages for loss of data or software restoration.

  11. Damages due to natural disasters such as floods, fires, winds, earthquakes, lightning, or the end of the world. :)

  12. Incorrect installation of hardware, software, and/or accessories.

  13. Failure to provide the proper installation environment.

  14. Peripherals not purchased from Sanford's ComputerWorks or unauthorized attachments.

  15. Service by any other service center.

  16. Any other type of abuse, misuse, physical damage, or neglect.

  17. Where the serial number or warranty label has been removed, defaced, or altered.

Other

Sanford's ComputerWorks reserves the right to modify the terms of the warranty at any time, without notice.
